One disabled fan has turned into a new friend for DJ Khaled. The rapper gifted Christopher Alvarez with one of his We the Best gold chains last week in New York, and after their conversation they have plans to reunite again at one of his pop-up shops.
On Snapchat, Khaled shared a video of their meeting. Alvarez suffers from thanatophoric dysplasia, a severe skeletal disorder that was supposed to claim his life before he turned five years old. He’s now 18 (via TMZ). And he’s a big fan of Khaled. After the two met, Khaled not only gave him the chain but his phone number. They’ve since spoken and have plans to meet up this Thursday (July 28) at one of Khaled’s pop-ups. As for Khaled, he’s called Alvarez an inspiration.
DJ Khaled isn’t the only rapper to reach out and make a fan’s day. Drake met up with cancer patient Megan Flores in March while in Miami with Rihanna for her Anti tour. The two took selfies together and he gifted her with OVO merchandise. When she passed away earlier in July, both he and Rihanna paid tribute to her.
It just goes to show that a little heart can go a long way to making a big difference. Watch their first meeting below.
