Recording artist Ty Dolla $ign sat down with Elliott Wilson and Brian “B-Dot” Miller on Play.it’s Rap Radar podcast to talk about the inspiration behind his newly released song “No Justice” featuring his older brother, Big TC, as well as his 2015 studio album Free TC.
The album included features from Big TC as well as his cellmate D-Loc on the smooth track “Miracle.”
“My bro, he’s locked up in California for a murder that he didn’t do,” he said. “I dedicated my album to him and everybody else that’s going through the same situation.”
While Ty explained that he generally prefers to keep his music pertaining to less serious topics, he believed that there is simply too much going on in the country to stay silent. Obviously, the issues that surround us everyday hit even harder for Ty with his brother’s unfortunate circumstances.
“The law is just out of control,” he continued. “We all might just be walking down the street and get f— up by the police so it’s just dedicated to everybody that’s been through injustice in any form or fashion.”
In an industry that tends to pride itself on material possessions, Ty is refreshingly choosing to spend the profits he makes on something more meaningful to himself and his family: proper legal representation for Big TC.
“Now that I got this opportunity with this music and I got all this money coming in, I’m putting it towards my brother instead of going to buy chains and all that dumb rap guy s—,” he explained.
