Travis Scott, Pete Wentz, More Share Love for Kid Cudi

By Amanda Wicks

Following news that Kid Cudi (aka Scott Mescudi) had checked himself into rehab to deal with his ongoing depression, a range of artists from all genres have taken to Twitter to share their support. Travis Scott, Bow Wow, Pete Wentz, Tegan and Sara and more all tweeted out their well wishes and support for the rapper.

Cudi posted on Facebook Tuesday evening (Oct. 4) that he had been living a lie. “I am not at peace,” he wrote. “I haven’t been since you’ve known me.” His decision might explain some of the recent erratic behavior from the rapper. In September, Cudi got into an online beef with Kanye West and Drake after calling them out for being fake rappers and using ghostwriters. West clapped back, but later extended an olive branch instead of escalating their back-and-forth jabs. He told a Houston crowd during his Saint Pablo tour, “I just wanted to take time out to say Kid Cudi is my brother and I hope he’s doing well.”

Scott, who shared that he’d be listening to Cudi’s music all day, is a huge fan. He told MTV News in 2015 how much the rapper means to him. While working on his debut album Rodeo, Scott got a visit from Cudi himself. “He came and surprised me at the studio one day when I was working with A-Trak and took me on this drive in his car, played me new music,” he said. “It was one of those moments — I was like crying in the backseat. He took me around Melrose. It was one of the craziest sh– ever.” The two most recently collaborated on Scott’s “Through the Late Night” off his newest album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.

Cudi promises that his new album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ will still be released, but he might not be as involved with promoting it.
