After moving to Capital Heights, Md. at 14, Don Juan fell in love with Go-Go at an early age and made sure his stamp was solidified as a passionate supporter.
DJ Flexx, IamDonJuan and record producer JS aka The Best crafted a one-of-a-kind song that was never been done before. Combining the classic sound of go-go with the aggression of the bounce beat, they named the track “Polo & Chuck,” to commemorate the founding fathers.
Many things have come from the DMV area but the most notable is the great genre of go-go music. In the late 60s and early 70s, D.C. was the hotbed for a brand new sound of funk that infused with early hip-hop and R&B. This Saturday, The Howard Theatre will host the Black Carpet Affair celebrating D.C. native D. Floyd’s 30 years of musical contributions on the Go-Go Scene.
